Il Postino

This was a relatively good movie It's slow, but it's Italian, so it's very lyrical and poetic. Considering it's mostly about a poet, that makes sense. The background on this is that a famous Chilean poet gets exiled to a beautiful island in Italy (some exile, huh?), and he makes friends with his postman. The postman is not very bright, but he loves poetry, and gets Pablo (the poet) to teach him about metaphors. Mario, the postman, falls in love with a woman at an inn. He uses the poetry that Pablo teaches him, the metaphors, to win her. Eventually they get married, and Pablo stands up at their wedding. The sam day, Pablo receives a communique saying that he's no longer exiled, he can come back, so he leaves the island. There is more after that, but I don't want to give away the whole movie...

Soft and lyrical. A metaphor of a movie...
