This movie is very twisted. It starts off all nice and normal: two schoolgirls making friends, and slowly over the course of the film they enter this fantasy world and lose all touch with reality. You get a glimpse of what happens at the end at the very beginning, and that is more than enough to remind you that this is one of Peter Jackson's early films (gore and blood). The acting of the two leads, Melanie Lynskey and Kate Winslet, is completely unbelievable. The voiceovers throughout the movie is part of the transcript from the actual diaries of the real girl. What's truly sickening is that this was based on a true story.
Very twisted, but so amazingly put-together, you have to see it.
