I'm kinda blah over this movie. I have to say first off that it's beautiful and wondefully written and all that other jazz, but I think it's trying to be a little too poetic. Ang Lee is a really fabulous director and his stuff is poetic and beautiful, but I think for this particular story, he may not have been the best choice. I think this story needed to be a little more accessible and reachable. The main character, Ennis, was essentially blocked from audiences by the way it was wound. Something about the movie put me on edge. The story made me cry and the acting was incredible, but in all honesty, I'm glad Crash won for Best Picture because I enjoyed it much more.
Great story, fabulous acting, but still somehow inaccessible to us mortals.
