American Splendor

This is another one I love. Something about how the intersperse the standard narrative with actual interviews and voiceovers with the real Harvey Pekar made it so good. It completely made me want to pick up his comics. I love the way they got married ("I think we should just skip the whole courtship thing and just get married."). I love the way they got their kid (too weird). I think it's so odd, and slightly off-kilter that it's completely wonderful. It's another one of those voyuer movies that let you peek into someone else's life and see what they do and how they live; especially since this person is actually narrating and still alive, not some famous dead musician....

Final Verdict: off-kilter and completely enjoyable. I love that he was a file clerk forever!
