Mean Reindeer

So, I was over at a neighbor's house earlier today, helping her decorate her house. She has a large house and needed help putting up garland and lights. At any rate, we were listening to Christmas music while decorating and for the first time in my life I really listened to the words of the song, "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer." Think about the words, really. It's all about how this little reindeer was teased and hated for being different. Then when he gets recognized and earns world fame, Rudolph suddenly has all the friends in the world!! It's sad. In all reality, it's telling kids that you have to be famous to have friends!! It's a horrible thing to be teaching kids. I never realized that it was so bad....

Question of the Day: What's your favorite Christmas Holiday song?

Now I'm going to be thinking about that all day...

I always thought it was a story of overcoming prejudice.

No, it was a story that was written to sell clothes at Montgomery Ward... It was an advertisement!
